You would be crazy not to train at Dark Horse BJJ!

"The first time I trained with Matt Jubera he was a blue belt and I was a black belt.  Immediately, I was able to recognize that Matt was a special student and that he would become a very good black belt one day and I was right!  I am very happy to have been able to watch and take part in his progression to where he is now.  I consider Matt a great training partner and friend and I would highly recommend him as a teacher.  He has a wealth of technical knowledge and more than that, he is a good person who represents the martial arts way of life.  If you are in his area, you would be crazy not to train at Dark Horse BJJ!"

Lucky to have the two of these guys in the Colorado BJJ community

Led by two great guys on and off the mat, Professors Matt Jubera and Andrew Dudderar always have great technique and overall understanding of jiu jitsu. Even after achieving my black belt in bjj, I took some privates from Professor Jubera and was amazed at how he opened up new insights into my game. I have also attended some of Professor Dudderar's classes and drill sessions, and was thoroughly impressed with his ability to teach down to the smallest of details in each position. I think we are lucky to have the two of these guys in the Colorado BJJ community. If you live in the area, or just around for a visit, Dark Horse BJJ is sure to be an academy you'll want to check out.

What Our Students Say

Incredibly lucky to have these two astounding BJJ instructors

"Professors Jubera and Dudderar are truly world class competitors and instructors.  They each have their own unique and complementary pedigrees and histories that include intense study with some of the sport's greatest athletes and most renowned and advanced teaching systems.  When Professor Jubera came to Colorado, both his fighting and teaching style completely transformed the way I (and many others) practiced and studied jiu-jitsu.  He has an uncanny ability to intuitively understand the technical aspects and body mechanics of BJJ in a way that is second to none and his superior instructional skills allow him to easily adapt this knowledge to the specific needs of individual students.  Professor Dudderar brings his own unique and amazing skill set to the mat as well; he's truly fun to be around and has a disarming personality and humility that both belies his powerful technical abilities and makes every class a fun and exciting experience for everyone.  Longmont is incredibly lucky to have these two astounding BJJ instructors sharing their incredible skills and experience with us!"

It is essential to be able to train where I feel comfortable

"For the past two years, I have realized that jiu-jitsu presents me with constant challenges, nothing like what my background in athletics prepared me for. The many frustrating moments are not only tackled personally, but Professors Dudderar and Jubera have the innate ability as teachers to assist in the ups and downs, giving individual attention to their students, and putting in an incredible amount of care into their classes. As teachers, they have the knowledge, awareness and skills to adjust the classes to those participating, and as a student it is easy to feel their dedication and drive to making their students the best they can be. As a female in the male dominated world of Jiu-Jitsu, it is essential to be able to train where I feel comfortable, with good training partners and the knowledge that I will be taken care of, which is something that the Dark Horse not only provides, but fosters as well. Professors Dudderar and Jubera have the ability to build champions in the environment they have created."

Unbeatable value for anyone wanting to learn self defense

"Dark Horse BJJ provides top-notch instruction from two world class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belts who actively compete and bring the latest BJJ techniques back to the school to share with their students. Professors Jubera and Dudderar have cultivated an atmosphere that provides for safe and detailed instruction, a strong sense of camaraderie and healthy competition. The professors don’t hesitate to answer your questions and give you individual advice to help improve your game. Coach Tamarchenko’s Thai boxing class is an awesome introduction to Muay Thai and a great way for students of other striking martial arts to move to the next level. Overall, Dark Horse offers excellent instruction and is an unbeatable value for anyone wanting to learn self defense, get in great shape and become a well rounded fighter."

Dark Horse BJJ is an awesome place to train

"Dark Horse BJJ is an awesome place to train, and it has been a privilege to have been a student here from the beginning. I don't think there's another place in this country you can get as much one on one time with black belts as a novice, and there aren't many where you can get such strong, solid instruction in the fundamentals. Professors Dudderar and Jubera are so easy going about training with the lower ranks that it's easy to forget that they're international competitors who have trained under and gone up against some of the best in the world. If you're in the area and have been sitting on the fence about whether or not to give it a try - take the plunge. You can't let an opportunity to start your jiu jitsu journey at such an amazing place go to waste!"

Only regrets I have, is I did not do it sooner

"I have been practicing jiu jitsu for approximately two and a half years.  In the last six months, I started training with Professor Matt Jubera and the only regrets I have, is I did not do it sooner.  Matt is extremely professional and puts emphasis on my individual needs. He takes the time to assess my strengths and weaknesses.  Professor Jubera emphasizes great detail and dedication into the art of jiu jitsu, and is extremely professional.  During the six months that I have been training with Professor Jubera, my skills and confidence in jiu jitsu has grown, and more importantly, my enjoyment of the sport/art has grown exponentially.  I highly recommend anyone (regardless of level) wanting to learn the details of jiu jitsu to spend some time training with Profesor Jubera. I have zero regrets in doing so."

Make it a part of your life, you won’t regret it

"In my life training jiu jitsu has helped me develop a new source of self confidence, drastically improved my physical capabilities, and has allowed me to quickly see the benefits of fighting through adversity and using adaptive methods to solve problems. Jiu jitsu also provides a safe way to enjoy the primal satisfaction of hand to hand combat which is exhilarating, stress relieving, and just plain fun. Andrew’s role in my life as an instructor and a friend has been invaluable and Dark Horse BJJ provides an opportunity for everyone in Colorado to have a similar experience. Go there, make it a part of your life, you won’t regret it."

My time spent with them has been invaluable

"I have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for almost four years. I started working and learning from Professor Dudderar and Professor Jubera about two years ago and my time spent with them has been invaluable. They are two of the most accomplished competitors and practitioners in Colorado, not to mention both are extraordinary teachers, a talent in itself. Longmont is lucky to have them."

One of the most giving, generous, and just badass people I have met

"Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Prof. Dudderar. When I used to visit your school as a white belt he would always go out of his way to steer my game in a better direction so far above and beyond.  I thought he had been a coach for years. He is one of the most giving, generous, and just badass people I have met since I started. I can't imagine what you had to do to get him as a teacher but it had to be worth it."
